Established in 206 a.c., Italica was the first Roman enclave in “Hispania” (Iberian peninsula ).
We will pick you up at your hotel and, drive into Santiponce, on the outskirts of Seville. Once there, we will walk into the remains of a Roman amphitheatre, marvel at statues, columns, beautifully persevered floor tiles and frescoes. You will even notice the Roman style trees, just as those you could see along the Apian Way in the Italian capital.
Did you know, that Italica is, the birthplace of two of Imperial Rome’s emperors? Yes, both Trajan and Adrian, were born in Italica, Seville. They were important and powerful figures in the Roman senate as well.
On the way back to Seville, we will stop at the Saint Isidore Monastery, to admire the many paintings and works of art and, even, to see the first Holy Bible that was ever printed in the Spanish language.
