03 Oct Tour through Grazalema and White Villages
Old Roman Road, Ubrique
Another one of our suggestions is an attractive walking experience through this majestic place, the Sierra of Grazalema, in which rugged mountains are mixed with the magical White Villages. It’s a unique setting, which is recognized by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve.
The experience that we will tell you about was set up by a family from Sevilla who had chosen Ubrique, one of the White Villages of Cadiz, to spend a week-long vacation. The family was made up of adults and children as young as 8 years old; so we developed a route adapted to everyone in the group. Thus, we combined a pleasant walk through the old part of town; of hiking on the old Roman road that starts in the very town of Ubrique; afterwards, a small path along the course of the Majaceite river, where they could enjoy a refreshing dip in one of its many pools.
Grazalema, a Biosphere Reserve
But the Sierra of Grazalema offers much more. One of the options we suggest is to enter the magical Garganta Verde canyon. You´ll be able to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and discover one of the largest colonies of griffon vultures in Europe. We can also take an interesting walk through a forest of Spanish firs that have been around since the Ice Age, as well as enjoy a unique view of the Sierra.
Of course, you can also visit the rest of the White Towns where we will walk through their beautiful streets filled with charm to get to know the most intimate and authentic corners where you’ll enjoy the hospitality of their inhabitants. You can also indulge in the rich gastronomy of the area—we’ll suggest the most typical and beloved dishes.
We would love for you to participate in this experience! You will fall in love with the natural splendor of Grazalema and the beauty of its villages. We’ll be waiting for you!
