After the Cathedral, the Salvador church of\u00a0Seville is\u00a0the biggest in the city.<\/h1>\n

The Salvador\u00a0church of\u00a0Seville<\/strong>\u00a0was originally a visigoth one\u00a0and later became a mosque. During the Moorish occupation is was the main church until it became too small; so\u00a0they decided to build a new mosque, which would eventually become the modern-day cathedral.<\/p>\n

With the reconquest of Sevilla<\/strong> it became Christian. Centuries later it was in ruins and so it was demolished and the present church was built in its place. But they maintained\u00a0the base of the former minaret<\/strong> and the mosque<\/strong> courtyard filled with orange trees. The low height of the columns that support the arches in the courtyard are striking.<\/p>\n

Its interior is an outstanding example of Baroque architecture, which highlights the extraordinary altar; and the overwhelming beauty\u00a0of the sculptures \u201cJes\u00fas de la Pasi\u00f3n<\/strong>\u201d by Martinez Monta\u00f1\u00e9s<\/strong> and \u201cCristo del Amor<\/strong>\u201d by Juan de Mesa<\/strong>, both of which have an almost human-like realism.<\/p>\n

Centuries of history and a comforting peace inside the church await you. It is an authentic gem.<\/p>\n
