Did you know that\u00a0Sevilla is known, among other names, as the city of the convents?<\/h1>\n

After the reconquest, the main christian orders sited convents in Seville<\/strong> all around the city; especially in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, while the city played a very important commercial role. For example, the convents of Santa In\u00e9s, Santa Paula, San Leandro <\/strong>or<\/strong> \u201clas Teresas\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We would like to highlight the San Jos\u00e9<\/strong> convent, inside the gorgeous Santa Cruz neighborhood of Seville<\/a>. It belongs to the \u201cCarmelitas Descalzas\u201d order, and it\u00b4s popularly known as \u201clas Teresas\u201d. <\/strong>That\u00b4s due to\u00a0<\/strong>the famous Saint Teresa of \u00c1vila who was the main driving force for its creation. She was successful in spite of many hardships, for example the macabre Spanish Inquisition that investigated her due to a false accusation.<\/p>\n

Another famous convent in Seville it\u00b4s Santa In\u00e9s, <\/strong>home of the Becquer\u00b4s legend Maese L\u00f3pez the Organist. The character was a man who continued playing the instrument even after his death. Santa Ines is home of another story too, a well known and tragic one. It\u00b4s about Mar\u00eda Coronel, a beautiful woman whose desperation led her to pour hot oil against her own face. But why? She wanted to\u00a0dislike the King Pedro I, who always tried to seduce Mar\u00eda. Did you know that to can see her face once a year?<\/p>\n

For example the pastries <\/strong>of Santa In\u00e9s<\/strong>, the wide variety of jams <\/strong>of Santa Paula<\/strong> or the sweet yolks <\/strong>of San Leandro<\/strong>. Your stomach and soul will be pleased!<\/p>\n
