The main purpose of <strong>the House of Trade in the Alcazar of Seville<\/strong> was the control and management of the maritime transport and trade between\u00a0the Spanish Empire and its cononies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This institution was located inside the sevillian Royal Palace, and part of the ancient building can be visited. The admiral\u00a0hall and the chapel are the two spaces which keep an important piece of the history, making of this city the heart\u00a0of trade in the XVI century.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Why did this city become so\u00a0<\/strong><strong>important? <\/strong>Firstly we need to talk about the \u201cBulas Alejandrinas\u201d (Alexandrian\u00a0Papal bulls). They were issued by the\u00a0Pope\u00a0Alexander VI; four documents which granted to the crown of Castile the the right to conquer\u00a0 American territories and spread\u00a0the\u00a0Catholic faith\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0distant boundaries\u00a0of the Spanish empire.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;9118&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;right&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_shadow_3d&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: right;\">Ricardo Carmona<\/h4>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u00a0Sevilla, port and\u00a0a gateway to the\u00a0Indies<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Crown of Castile chose <strong>the port of Seville<\/strong> for many reasons. But the main was the <strong>Guadalquivir river<\/strong>, a navigable one. It allowed that the vessels could be more protected rather than a port on\u00a0the shore, like Cadiz. Moreover, the city had excellent interior connections with the rest of the cities in the kingdom.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>This way, Sevilla became port and\u00a0a gateway to the\u00a0Indies;<\/strong>\u00a0and the main financial center in Europe.\u00a0 Many merchants and bussiness man saw the business opportunity in our city. This overall trade boom lasted until 1717, when The House of Trade was moved to\u00a0 Cadiz because of sedimentary problems with the river.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>The House of Trade in Seville<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In APIE, we\u00b4d like to remember the wonderful past of the city of Seville.
